Soil Sampling in Minnesota & North Dakota
Vaadeland Precision Ag is an independent soil-sampling and precision-ag partner based in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Kevin brings 7+ years of precision ag experience and 200,000+ acres of soil sampling experience already documented on this site.
You do not have to purchase fertilizer, seed, lime, or custom application through Vaadeland Precision Ag.
Grid and management-zone sampling
Neither approach fits every field. The right program depends on crop, soil variability, nutrient and manure history, previous sampling, field size, and grower objectives. Grid sampling uses a regular pattern; zone sampling uses logical, repeatable field patterns with multiple cores representing each zone.
Collection, handling, and delivery
We agree on the sampling plan and appropriate depth and tests for the nutrient question, collect consistent GPS-referenced samples, organize labels and sample handling, coordinate laboratory work, and organize results and maps by field. Soil-test data can support later recommendations and variable-rate workflows; those decisions require interpretation, not assumptions from a map.
Sampling depth and testing depend on crop, field history, soil conditions, the nutrient question, and your goals. Deep nitrate cores are available when appropriate.
Soil results can support variable-rate fertilizer recommendations and prescription files when you want that additional service. This support is optional, agreed separately, and not automatically included in a sampling job.
We sample in both spring and fall. Timing depends on field conditions and the sampling objective.
Crops and operations
Work includes corn, soybeans, potatoes, and other row-crop and small-grain operations. We serve Minnesota and North Dakota; Upper Midwest work is considered based on location, timing, acreage density, and routing.
Common questions
Is grid or zone sampling better?
Neither is universally best. It depends on crop, soils, nutrient and manure history, previous sampling, field size, and your goals. We will talk it through before we sample.
What depth and tests do you use?
Sampling depth and testing depend on crop, field history, soil conditions, the nutrient question, and your goals. Deep nitrate cores are available when appropriate.
Do you sample in spring and fall?
We sample in both spring and fall. Timing depends on field conditions and the sampling objective. See our Fall Soil Sampling page for fall-specific details.
How far do you travel?
We work primarily across Minnesota and North Dakota. For fields elsewhere in the Upper Midwest we look at location, timing, acreage density, and routing.
How do I get a quote?
Start with field location, approximate acres, crop, and timing. We can help determine grid vs. zone sampling and testing needs, then quote the work.
